David Rooney
Founder & CEO

Over 20 years experience in the recruitment sector, David started life as a financial recruiter at one of the UK’s top names for mid-market finance.  He joined that business when it had 7 employees and was instrumental in driving its growth to 135 people, eventually rising to become MD and leading the business through its sale to a PE-backed business in 2007. Subsequently he became the EMEA CEO for The FiveTen Group during their acquisition phase of 2007/2008.  David set up Finatal in 2010 wanting to again build a great business only this time better than the first.

In his colleagues’ words:
Motivational, charming and a natural leader. A ‘morning person all day long’.  We are not sure what that means but he likes it.

Paul Blant
Managing Director

Paul entered the world of recruitment direct from graduating from Southampton University.  He worked in one of the most highly regarded finance search businesses in London setting up their Interim division and enjoyed huge success representing clients in both commerce and industry and financial services.  He has a large network of CFOs from whom he gets respect and huge loyalty as he is always extremely committed to helping customers whether candidates or clients and will not give up a search until he gets the right result for them.  Paul joined Finatal as a Director in 2011 and oversees all UK consultants in addition to driving our strategy for PE clients.

Mark Sattin
Director - Interim

Mark started his professional career working with Simon Korn commercial, before going travelling around Central America for 5 months. He joined Finatal in its infancy in 2010 and was tasked developing Finatal Technology. The sector grew fast and worked with a number of VC and PE backed companies. After 5 years, he was promoted to lead the Interim business, where they are focused on working with the best Interim Finance talent across the VC and Private Equity backed companies.

Anne Wilkinson
Manager - Brazil

Anne has been with the business since its inception and has led our Brazil team since 2012.  She was responsible for building the Brazil business from scratch and she covers senior finance hires across PE but also other sectors including retail, mining, consumer goods and agro-business.  Predominantly focused on Sao Paulo, Anne also assists clients on CFO and Controller hires in Rio, Minas Gerais & Curitiba.

Caspar Benson
Manager - Interim Management

Caspar joined Finatal in June 2015 and works on the interim desk, specifically looking after the Interim Management/CFO practice. Coming from a recruitment background, Caspar previously worked for Randstad and Trillium Associates in his earlier career.

Jamie Irwin
Manager - Finance Team

Jamie joined Finatal in 2017 bringing with him over 5 years’ experience of recruiting in London’s accountancy and finance market. He has operated at the qualified end of the market on both an interim and permanent capacity, priding himself on delivering genuine consultancy to both clients and candidates. This approach has resulted in valuable long term relationships with senior finance professionals across SME and FTSE businesses.

Chris Benstead
Manager - Interim

Chris has always had a very keen interest in how and why people behave the way they do and in turn completed a 1st Class Degree in Psychology from Birmingham City University. After University, Chris spent some time travelling to Sri Lanka and Brazil and then joined Finatal as a graduate in our Interim team. Chris counts himself as a keen sports person having played football and water polo to a high level in the past!

Dawn White
Executive Consultant

Dawn joined Finatal in November 2016. She has twenty years of experience recruiting finance professionals and has worked with some leading names in the market.  Clients have ranged from SME and start up to large private and public international companies recruiting key finance roles across all commercial sectors. Her passions are food, music and West Ham United. She describes herself as a super star DJ in disguise as an executive recruiter.

Khal Khaliq
Executive Consultant

With well over 15 years recruitment experience buy and sell side, Khal has recruited into key front office opportunities into Asset Managers and investment Banks, including those Asset Management companies concerned with the management of alternative investments (hedge funds and fund of hedge funds).
With a focus on honesty and quality of service, Khal has been recruiting for a number of prestigious businesses for 15 years and continues to be in many cases their first port of call.
Outside of recruitment Khal enjoys keeping fit and has undertaken a number of physical challenges including a number of Crossfit competitions . Since Khal’s Boxing days are now sadly firmly in the past he maintains a keen interest in most sports (from his armchair), is an avid car fanatic, enjoys film and cinema, fine establishments (bars / restaurants) and travel.

Cameron Sondhi
Recruitment Consultant

As a Business and Management graduate from The University of Lincoln, Cameron started his career as a Researcher at Bailey Fisher Executive Search supporting the Partners on a range of C-suite and board level roles in Technology, Life Sciences, Healthcare and Finance. Cameron brings this experience with him and joined the Finatal team as a Consultant on our permanent side of the business. He is also a keen sportsman and qualified tennis coach!

David Hanison
Senior Consultant - CFOs

David has 17 years experience of placing senior finance professionals having previously trained as a chartered accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Clients have ranged from multinational listed plcs and PE-backed businesses through to private companies and SMEs mainly UK-based as well as some overseas (Europe, Middle East and Asia).

In his colleagues’ words:
Lateral thinker, diplomatic & humorous. Always looking to help.  Our favourite though: ‘a great left foot’.  We think this is football-related.

Matthew Humphreys
Senior Consultant - Interim Management

Matthew was brought up in East Yorkshire where has just completed two successful years in financial recruitment. He has since made the big move and relocated to London where he has joined us within the Finatal Interim team.

As another keen sportsman in the office, Matthew plays rugby union and tennis and counts himself as a big car enthusiast!

Dominic Mellett
Consultant - Interim Management

Dominic joined Finatal in July 2017 and works on the interim team with a focus on interim management / CFO roles. Prior to joining Finatal he worked for an investment bank boutique where he worked on M&A in the U.K & Germany. Dominic is a Business with Economics graduate from the University of Brighton and graduate in 2016.

Outside of work Dominic enjoys skiing, squash and plays competitive hockey

Christina Tang

Originally from Newcastle, Christina moved to Tokyo after graduation and worked as a specialist Recruitment consultant covering the Japan and APAC regions. Upon return to the UK she joined Finatal working on the permanent Finance desk. Christina has experience working with large multinational companies as well as small business’. Christina is a keen traveller and in her spare time enjoys volunteering for animal welfare organisations.

Thomas Hilling

Tom joined the team in June 2017 and works on the permanent desk. He graduated from Newcastle University in business management. Tom has experience working with venture capitalists and running his own business whilst at university. Tom is a keen golfer and enjoys travelling off the beaten track. He has now relocated to London and is looking forward to starting a career in recruitment.

Ellie Corke

Ellie joined Finatal in 2017 after relocating back to the UK after spending 12 years living in Australia. With a degree in Business Administration/Finance, Ellie sits on the permanent finance team as a recruitment consultant.  Her background is in Fitness and has spent the last few years running her own business as a personal trainer.

Her passions include food, horse riding and working out.

Jack Lane
Consultant - Interim

Jack joined Finatal’s interim team in 2017. Jack was a lighting-solutions consultant for a year but decided to pursue a career in recruitment so he could engage in a more challenging, specialised market.

He is a graduate of University of Nottingham with a First-class degree in English and Philosophy - specialising in Advanced Metaethics, Freudian Psychoanalytics and Dystopian Fiction in his final year. Jack has a pending publication on Aldous Huxley and William Blake. When he wasn’t busy being a nerd, Jack was a white-collar heavyweight boxer and a 1st team prop in Rugby League… Weird mix.

Phoebe Hennell
Consultant - Interim

Phoebe joined the Finatal interim team and made the transition from a sales background in the private equity sector to a recruitment-orientated involvement in the same sphere. The reason for this was wanting to be involved with people on a day-to-day basis. Prior to this, she was studying a medicine degree before discovering that her true preference lay in business. However, she has retained the instinct to act with people’s best interests at heart, coupling this with drive and ambition. Outside of work, Phoebe is keen on health and fitness, loving running and smoothies but also loves a glass of prosecco and is addicted to chocolate.

Rebecca Bermingham
Consultant - Interim

Rebecca joined Finatal at the start of 2018 for the Finatal Interim Team. She has recently graduate from the University of Exeter with a Drama Degree. After performing on stage for 17 years, she decided after graduating to move to London to work in the private equity sector. Rebecca likes to stay motivated by taking on new challenges and learning continuously along the way. Rebecca enjoys traveling and going to the gym.

Adrian Callendar
Training Manager

Adrian qualified as a Teacher but decided he didn’t like other peoples’ children so moved into Recruitment as he preferred the company of other adults. He has a background of working in specialist recruitment mainly within the construction sector and has held every role from Consultant to Director during his long career. In 2009 he took his CITD/CIPD qualification and moved into Training and Development within the Recruitment Industry. Joining Finatal in 2015 his role is to maximise the potential of all Consultants and Managers in the business through individual Training and Coaching plans, including a comprehensive induction programme for new starters. Adrian enjoys his work and says he came for the opportunity and stays because of the people. In his spare time he likes doing crosswords, studying military history and listening to Punk rock.

Kasia Jursa
Accounts Assistant

Kasia joined the business in 2012.  She organises the smooth running of the office in addition to supervising our admin team in India and also oversees the financial aspects of the Interim business.

Efficient, organised, phlegmatic and a great multi-tasker.  ‘Finatal’s engine room’. And also a polyglot to boot!  Not bad, eh?

Laura Malach
Marketing Manager

Laura has spent 10 years subsequent to studying branding and marketing at The University of Leeds, working within the world of brand management for some well-known popular brands. Venturing into the world of private equity recruitment in 2015, Laura joined our Finatal team with a fond appreciation for the colour purple! Laura manages all of Finatal’s brand activation’s, social media and marketing activity.

Lídia Ruiz
Marketing Executive

Lidia is a Marketing and Communication professional from Barcelona who joined us in early 2017 right after she moved to London.  She graduated in Autonomous University of Barcelona with working experience in online marketing, event organization and communication strategy. She is passionate about the well-being of people and the environment, as well as being involved in valuable projects, such as TEDxBarcelonaWomen. Lidia loves working and learning, and since the very first day she proved a proactive attitude to improve the company marketing strategy in both internal and external ways. She is very keen on travelling, art, rock music and climbing!

Sarah Doyle

Sarah joined us in 2017, after managing an office independently for 2 years previous. Sarah joined the team as the PA to our CEO David Rooney and is important in keeping the office running smooth and efficiently.

Sarah is keen to continue to learn daily and always wants to help the team whenever needed. She has a passion for food (mainly eating it) and regularly tries to master new recipes.
