We engaged Finatal in November to assist on a CFO search for one of our portfolio companies, Smallsteps, a childcare service provider based in the Netherlands. Having historically undertaken a number of management changes it was imperative that we hired a CFO who was commercially aware, financially astute and fitted the culture of the group. Paul provided a strong shortlist within a week, all Dutch nationals with a track record of working in multi-site businesses; we saw four candidates, two stood out who we progressed. The candidate we hired came from a competitor, had previously worked in a private equity environment and crucially, for a business in this sector, was a great fit with the rest of the management team.
