The opportunity

Finatal is excited to be partnering with a PE-backed professional services business on their search for a CFO. Backed by a leading mid-market investor, this business has grown organically as well as via M&A adding 1 – 2 acquisitions each year. The company has multiple different service offerings and as such the incoming CFO will need to business partner Divisional MD’s – supporting them in driving growth in each business unit. Their core business is in the UK, but management aspire for international expansion into the US and across Europe and the CFO will play a lead role in this. The company is aiming for an exit in the next 2 years and expects interest from both Private Equity and strategic acquirers.

Job Overview:

The position demands proficiency in commercial finance, M&A and strategic business partnering. Given the company’s data-driven nature, the new CFO should bring a proactive approach and a keen analytical mindset to scrutinise financial information. They will play a key role in constructively challenging Divisional Managing Directors, holding them accountable for results while offering strong business partnership support. A primary focus will be on driving more detailed profitability analysis across divisions, service lines, and products to ensure ongoing success in the role.

The CFO will also be instrumental in supporting the company’s organic growth, M&A efforts, and future international expansion. Additionally, they will improve the finance team’s effectiveness by refining and optimising current systems, processes, and controls to support scalability. Experience in managing relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, banks, and advisors, is essential, along with a demonstrated ability to influence strategic decisions through effective use of data.
