A rapidly expanding, private equity-backed software business with a mix of 80% SaaS and 20% consultancy revenue streams is looking to appoint an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The company, currently at £15m in revenue, is on an impressive growth trajectory, achieving 45% YoY growth and targeting £40m in revenue within the next 3-5 years, before a planned exit.

The incoming CFO will inherit a talented finance team of 4 and will have the budget and authority to scale the team as the business grows. This is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking financial leader to join a high-growth business, taking a central role in shaping its financial strategy, improving performance, and preparing the company for a successful exit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the financial strategy and oversee all financial operations of the business, including financial planning, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, board, and senior management, providing strategic financial insights to drive decision-making and optimise business performance.
  • Ensure robust financial controls and processes are in place to support continued rapid growth and a smooth transition to £40m revenue.
  • Manage the finance function, including a team of 4, with the flexibility to expand the team in line with the business’s scaling objectives.
  • Take ownership of the financial reporting cycle, including accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, ensuring that financial performance is transparent and aligns with investor expectations.
  • Oversee cash flow management, working capital, and profit margins, ensuring the business maintains financial flexibility to support its growth and expansion.
  • Partner with the commercial teams to optimise pricing, profitability, and financial modelling, particularly within the SaaS and consultancy segments.
  • Lead due diligence and financial modelling for any strategic initiatives or potential acquisitions as the company looks to accelerate growth.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax requirements.
  • Drive the preparation and execution of the business’s exit strategy in 3-5 years, working closely with private equity partners and stakeholders.

Key Requirements:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification, with significant experience in a senior finance role within a high-growth software or technology business.
  • Strong experience in SaaS and consultancy business models, with a deep understanding of SaaS financial metrics and KPIs.
  • Demonstrable track record of successfully managing the financial function within a private equity-backed business, ideally during a period of rapid growth and/or preparing for an exit.
  • Proven experience in managing and developing finance teams, with the ability to scale and build the team in line with the business’s growth.
  • Exceptional strategic financial acumen, with the ability to influence at all levels and provide clear, actionable insights to drive business performance.
  • Previous experience in managing the financial side of an exit or IPO process is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely with senior executives, investors, and stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
