Role Overview

Our client is a fast-growing, Private Equity-backed healthcare business with a £40m revenue. We are seeking a seasoned Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join the senior leadership team. The ideal candidate will have a track record of success within the private equity environment, particularly in healthcare or similar high-growth sectors.

The CFO will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial operations, strategic planning, and governance of the company. The CFO will play a crucial role in managing financial performance, supporting potential acquisitions, and driving the growth of the business. The CFO will work closely with the Private Equity investors, board members, and executive team to deliver on key business goals and provide financial insights that will guide strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Strategy & Leadership The CFO will lead the development of the company’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and growth targets. They will provide financial oversight to maintain the company’s health and sustainability, while acting as a key advisor to the CEO and executive team on business strategy, fundraising, and operational planning.
  • Private Equity Relationship Management The CFO will manage relationships with Private Equity investors and stakeholders, delivering timely financial reports and updates to the Board. They will also lead the preparation of business cases for new investments, capital raises, and strategic initiatives to support growth.
  • Financial Management & Reporting The CFO will oversee financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. They will prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, providing performance analysis and variance updates to the CEO and Board. Additionally, they will manage forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow processes.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) The CFO will lead financial due diligence, structuring, and execution of M&A transactions. They will assess potential acquisitions for strategic fit, manage integration plans, and monitor the financial performance of acquired businesses.
  • Operational Efficiency & Risk Management The CFO will ensure operational efficiency and robust financial controls across the finance and accounting functions. They will mitigate financial and operational risks, drive effective tax planning, and ensure financial structuring that optimizes the company’s position.
  • Team Leadership & Development The CFO will mentor and develop the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture. They will continuously improve financial processes, systems, and workflows to support scalability as the business grows.

Key Requirements

  • Experience The ideal candidate will have experience as a CFO or senior finance executive in a Private Equity-backed organization, with a strong background in the healthcare sector or similar high-growth industries. Experience in managing financial operations for a business with £40m+ in revenue and in M&A and fundraising is essential.
  • Skills The CFO must have strong financial acumen, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights. They should have expertise in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, as well as leadership skills to influence senior stakeholders. A deep understanding of corporate governance, risk management, and compliance is also required.
  • Education The candidate must be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Personal Attributes The ideal candidate will be a strategic, hands-on leader with excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver financial outcomes aligned with company objectives. They should possess a high level of integrity and professionalism, and be able to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
