A PE backed engineering business requires an experienced Corporate Development Director to lead on all aspects of the M&A cycle, from origination to successful integration and value creation.

This is a newly created position and requires candidates with the ability to implement process, control, and governance, as well as those comfortable operating as sole internal contributor to M&A.

Role overview: 

  • Utilising advisors, brokers, and the internal network to originate acquisition targets
  • Undertake detailed competitor and market analysis to develop the M&A strategy and to unearth investment opportunities
  • Lead on a range of value creation and strategic initiatives
  • Overseeing all due diligence workstreams and ensuring strategic fit of acquisitions
  • Undertake detailed commercial due diligence into targets
  • Responsible for all negotiations and deal structuring
  • Work with the finance function to ensure post-completion activities are completed / adhered to
  • Ultimately ensure the prompt execution of value creative transactions
  • Business plan development for acquired businesses
  • Developing detailed integration plans and strategies
  • Acting in a hands on capacity to ensure the effective integration of all acquisitions
  • Monitor and report on integrations
  • Work with the C-suite to best position the business for eventual exit

Candidate requirements: 

  • Proven ability to drive M&A from origination to integration
  • Likely in possession of prior corporate development / in-house M&A experience
  • Trained M&A Advisor, transaction services, or investment banking professional
  • The ability to drive value post-acquisition
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to “shape the story”
  • Hands on approach to work
  • First class stakeholder management and communication skills
