A PE backed engineering business requires an experienced Corporate Development Director to lead on all aspects of the M&A cycle, from origination to successful integration and value creation.
This is a newly created position and requires candidates with the ability to implement process, control, and governance, as well as those comfortable operating as sole internal contributor to M&A.
Role overview:
- Utilising advisors, brokers, and the internal network to originate acquisition targets
- Undertake detailed competitor and market analysis to develop the M&A strategy and to unearth investment opportunities
- Lead on a range of value creation and strategic initiatives
- Overseeing all due diligence workstreams and ensuring strategic fit of acquisitions
- Undertake detailed commercial due diligence into targets
- Responsible for all negotiations and deal structuring
- Work with the finance function to ensure post-completion activities are completed / adhered to
- Ultimately ensure the prompt execution of value creative transactions
- Business plan development for acquired businesses
- Developing detailed integration plans and strategies
- Acting in a hands on capacity to ensure the effective integration of all acquisitions
- Monitor and report on integrations
- Work with the C-suite to best position the business for eventual exit
Candidate requirements:
- Proven ability to drive M&A from origination to integration
- Likely in possession of prior corporate development / in-house M&A experience
- Trained M&A Advisor, transaction services, or investment banking professional
- The ability to drive value post-acquisition
- A strategic mindset with the ability to “shape the story”
- Hands on approach to work
- First class stakeholder management and communication skills
