Finatal is exclusively partnering with a dynamic professional services business, backed by a prominent mid-market Private Equity fund who are seeking a hands-on Finance Director. As part of the leadership team, the Finance Director will work closely with the CEO to drive the financial success and stability of the company.
The business is a tech consultancy, providing highly skilled people-based services, with a focus on client utilisation. With a turnover of £8 million, the company is looking for someone who can take charge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management to ensure the business is operating efficiently and poised for future growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Management:Â Prepare and oversee the production of financial statements and management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:Â Lead the annual budgeting process and regular forecasting cycles, providing insights and recommendations for cost control and profitability enhancement.
- Cash Flow Management:Â Monitor cash flow, preparing forecasts, and implementing strategies to optimise liquidity and working capital.
- Process Improvement:Â Streamline financial processes to ensure efficient reporting, including preparing journals, reconciling accounts, and managing internal controls.
- Strategic Planning:Â Work closely with the CEO to provide financial insight that supports decision-making, future growth, and operational efficiency.
- Team Development:Â As the business only has a bookkeeper currently, you will be expected to manage the finance function, offering guidance and training where needed, with a focus on efficiency and hands-on involvement.
- Financial Systems:Â Ensure the implementation and use of financial systems are optimised to support financial performance and provide accurate data for decision-making.
Key Skills & Experience
- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
- Significant experience in a finance leadership role within an SME, preferably in a professional services or consultancy environment.
- Experience working within a Private Equity backed businesses prior
- Strong expertise in financial accounting, management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Hands-on experience with preparing journals, accounts, and financial reports.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of all finance-related activities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior management.
- Previous experience in a growing business with a focus on cost control and operational efficiency.
- Proficiency with accounting software and financial systems.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
