We are partnering with a high-growth, private equity-backed multi-site retail business with revenues of approximately £120m, seeking a dynamic Finance Manager to join their expanding finance function. With a strong nationwide presence and ambitious growth trajectory, the business offers a fast-paced and commercially engaged environment where finance plays a critical role in operational decision-making.

The Role:

Reporting to the Head of Finance and working closely with operational teams, this newly created role will take ownership of all aspects of stock and inventory accounting across the group. You will act as a key link between finance and supply chain, driving accuracy, visibility, and control over a significant area of the P&L and balance sheet.

This position would suit a hands-on and commercially minded finance professional with strong stock experience in a retail or hospitality environment, ideally in a multi-site setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and own the stock and inventory accounting process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of stock movements, margin, and shrinkage.
  • Partner with the supply chain, commercial and operational teams to improve visibility and control of stock performance.
  • Review and reconcile stock balances across all locations and channels, ensuring integrity of data.
  • Own the reporting of gross margin, stock adjustments, and cost of goods sold.
  • Drive improvements in stock and margin reporting through better systems, processes, and controls.
  • Support the month-end process, providing key variance analysis and commentary.
  • Assist in developing and implementing standard costing methodologies and stock provisioning policies.
  • Play a lead role in stock audits and liaise with external auditors as needed.
  • Contribute to wider finance initiatives including budgeting, forecasting, and process improvements.

About You:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong technical grounding in stock/inventory accounting – essential.
  • Background in retail, FMCG, or hospitality; multi-site or high-volume operations a strong advantage.
  • Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and commercially astute.
  • Strong systems skills (e.g., Excel, ERP tools) and experience working with operational data.
  • Comfortable in a hands-on role with both reporting and business partnering responsibilities.
  • Adaptable and driven, with a continuous improvement mindset.
