A well-established manufacturing business in South Wales, with a turnover of approximately £100m and an EBITDA of around £35m, is seeking a Financial Controller. This high-growth, successful company has experienced 40% year-on-year growth and is supported by a prominent mid-market private equity fund. The company has recently appointed a new CFO to drive the transformation of the finance function, and this role will report directly to them.

The Financial Controller will be responsible for restructuring the accounting team, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture, and providing clear strategic direction. Focused on long-term goals, the role will aim to enhance financial systems, streamline processes, and support sustainable growth in a dynamic environment. Experience within a manufacturing business and familiarity with private equity-backed companies would be ideal, along with a relevant accounting qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely records of all financial transactions
  • Oversee financial reporting for regulatory and compliance purposes
  • Maintain P&L and balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and researching any significant variances
  • Review and approve invoices for payment and resolve any discrepancies
  • Prepare and review financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations
  • Support any financial statement audits required for entities under remit
  • Assist in the establishment of internal control procedures and processes

Requirements

  • ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent
  • Strong technical accounting skills, including statutory reporting and consolidations
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing business is highly desirable
