The Opportunity

Finatal is partnering with a high-growth, Private Equity-backed SaaS business, boasting a recent significant investment and a current turnover of £50m. With a clearly defined international growth strategy—both organically and via M&A—the business is on an accelerated path toward further funding rounds, debt & equity financing, and an eventual exit process. A highly experienced Private Equity-backed C-suite and management team are embedded within the business, driving its continued success and professionalisation.

The business values high emotional intelligence, adaptability, and a strong work ethic, making it an ideal place for those who thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance setting. With a strong social culture, regular team events, and a commitment to work-life balance, the company offers a unique mix of high-growth ambition and a people-first ethos.

This is a high-energy, entrepreneurial environment where innovation, collaboration, and ambition are at the core of the business. The team is dynamic and driven by a shared vision to scale and transform the business into a global category leader. The culture fosters open communication, trust, and where every team member has a voice. The leadership team is committed to professional development, ensuring employees have the autonomy and resources to thrive in their roles.

The Role

The Financial Controller will be a key player within the finance function, acting as the strong number three, reporting directly to an established and dynamic PE Finance Director, with a dotted line into the seasoned CFO. This is a pivotal role that will shape and drive the finance function to Private Equity standards, ensuring robust financial control, process enhancement, and operational excellence.

The Financial Controller will lead a team of four qualified accountants, act as a champion for the company’s new ERP system (NetSuite), and support FP&A processes. This individual will be instrumental in ensuring high-quality reporting, compliance, and financial governance, aligning finance operations with the company’s ambitious international expansion strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of four qualified accountants, ensuring a high-performance finance function.
  • Oversee the financial reporting process, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financials.
  • Drive the transition to Private Equity-grade financial processes, implementing robust controls, efficiencies, and reporting structures.
  • Own and optimise the company’s ERP system (NetSuite), ensuring best-in-class financial systems and reporting capabilities.
  • Support FP&A processes, providing critical insights to aid strategic decision-making and business performance evaluation.
  • Play a key role in the company’s international expansion, ensuring financial compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Assist with M&A activities, including financial due diligence, integration planning, and post-acquisition financial management.
  • Prepare financial statements and work closely with auditors, tax advisors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Act as a key finance leader in supporting the business through further funding rounds and an eventual exit strategy.

The Requirements

  • Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), ideally from a Top 10 firm
  • Experience: Strong technical finance background, with prior experience in a high-growth, Private Equity-backed or SaaS environment being highly advantageous.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop a finance team.
  • Technical Acumen: Strong knowledge of ERP systems (preferably NetSuite) and process automation.
  • International Exposure: Experience operating in an international business setting, with multi-currency reporting and compliance considerations.
  • M&A Exposure: Familiarity with acquisition integration, financial due diligence, and related processes.
  • Strategic Mindset: Ability to operate at both a strategic and operational level, balancing the demands of a fast-paced, growing organisation.
  • High EQ & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a people-centric, collaborative, and fast-moving culture.

If you are a technically strong, commercially minded finance professional who thrives in a fast-moving, Private Equity-backed environment and is looking for a career-defining role, this opportunity is for you.
