The Opportunity:
Finatal is partnering with a dynamic, fast-growing hospitality/multisite business with an impressive footprint across the UK, Europe, and the US. With a turnover of approximately £80m and a strong EBITDA of 10%, the business is on a trajectory of success, backed by Private Equity with plans for an exit within the next two years. The business operates 50 sites and are committed to innovation, growth, and excellence in all that we do.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Financial Controller to join their London-based team. Reporting directly to an established CFO, you will play a critical role in managing financial operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. You will lead a team of 4 in accounting and technical finance, with an additional dotted line reporting from FP&A, driving key financial initiatives across the business.
The Role:
- Financial Leadership: Provide strategic financial guidance to the CFO and leadership team, contributing to the company’s success and supporting our Private Equity-backed growth strategy.
- Financial Reporting: Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of management accounts and statutory reports.
- Board Pack Creation: Develop and present comprehensive board packs for Private Equity investors and board members, delivering clear insights and actionable recommendations.
- FP&A and Business Partnering: Collaborate closely with the FP&A team, offering support and insight into financial planning, analysis, and business partnering activities.
- Automation & Efficiency: Drive automation and process improvements within the finance function, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and manage large data sets effectively.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of 4 direct reports, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Compliance & Controls: Ensure strong financial controls are in place, mitigating risks and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
The Requirements:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance role within a Private Equity-backed business, in the hospitality or multisite sector.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to manage and analyse large data sets.
- Experience in driving financial automation is essential.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing and motivating teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with a strong commercial mindset, capable of contributing to the overall business strategy.
