Finatal is partnering with a high-growth, private equity-backed logistics business that is undergoing an exciting period of transformation. With the backing of a leading upper mid-market PE fund, this £200m revenue group is focused on scaling operations, integrating recent acquisitions, and preparing for a potential refinancing event. To support these priorities, the business is seeking an experienced Interim Group Financial Controller to lead on financial reporting, controls, and investor engagement during this pivotal stage.
Role Overview:
As Interim Group Financial Controller, you will report to the CFO and play a key leadership role within the finance team. You will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate group reporting, enhancing financial controls across the business, and supporting the wider strategic agenda including a refinancing process. This role requires a technically strong, hands-on leader with experience in fast-paced, private equity environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the group month-end close and consolidation process across multiple entities.
- Owning the production of board and investor reporting, including group KPIs and performance insights.
- Strengthening group-wide financial controls, policies, and reporting frameworks.
- Supporting the CFO on refinancing workstreams including data preparation, lender materials, and due diligence.
- Driving improvements in working capital and cash flow forecasting.
- Partnering with divisional finance leads to ensure consistent reporting and governance.
- Supporting integration of recent acquisitions into the group finance structure.
- Managing and mentoring a capable finance team to ensure delivery against PE-level expectations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with strong technical and leadership credentials.
- Experience in a private equity-backed, multi-entity group – ideally within logistics, distribution, or supply chain sectors.
- Proven track record in group reporting, consolidation, and financial control.
- Exposure to refinancing, debt processes, or investor relations is highly desirable.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and navigate complex environments.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging with CFO, PE backers, and auditors.
- A pragmatic, hands-on leader who can drive change and deliver results in a dynamic setting.
