The Opportunity

Finatal is retained by a professional services asset which is backed by a highly reputable, large-cap private equity fund and scaling rapidly. Following a sizeable injection of cash, the business are now looking to bring the expertise and mindset of individuals from a high-growth environment to the team.

This role demands a Number 2 in Finance who has experience of implementing strong processes, controls and systems and can match the pace and rate of change of a private equity backed asset as the business is high growth and has a strong precedent of success within its sector. If you are an ambitious future CFO, this role offers the opportunity to step up post exit.

The Responsibilities

This Number 2 in Finance role will focus on enhancing the controls environment and preparing for a PE exit. Line management of a diversely qualified team plus the goal to inspire confidence in commercial stakeholders to execute a successful exit strategy. The business is looking for an experienced technical Financial Controller candidate.

  • Enhancing the core finance accounting, management accounting, and statutory accounting
  • Injecting the validity and confidence back into the data, controls and reporting, month end/year end and improving efficiencies
  • Leading process improvement, process to pay, order to receipt, payroll systems
  • Financial lead on Microsoft Dynamics ERP, project management systems and enabling automation
  • Line management of a mid-size internal finance controls team
  • Develop efficient consolidation, IFRS, efficient timelines within balance sheets, current financials and covenant models
  • Key finance contact for external stakeholders not limited to HMRC, tax, banks and private equity owners
  • Develop accurate cash flow forecasting processes
  • Budget and forecasting analysis and presentation of data

The Requirements

Given the business’ exit strategy plans, this role demands an experienced Financial Controller driven by change, process improvement and delivering on enhancing the core finance functions.

  • Strong technical background is a must
  • Experience of a Private Equity backed business with exit strategy and delivery experience
  • ACA, CIMA, ACCA Qualified or equivalent (likely Big 4 trained), with strong academics
  • Ambitious, hard working and problem-solving mentality
  • Experience of rewiring current finance teams to improve performance, data and controls
