A high-growth, private equity–backed professional services business is seeking a Group Head of FP&A to build and lead a best-in-class FP&A function at a pivotal stage of its journey. The business is performing strongly boasting a £150m turnover & £30m EBITDA, with significant year-on-year organic growth alongside an ambitious M&A strategy, and is targeting a value-optimising exit within the next 12 months.
This is a newly created, high-impact role offering the opportunity to professionalise FP&A, materially influence commercial decision-making, and help shape the value creation story for exit. The exit is imminent, improving and getting the business exit ready is critical.
The Role:
The Group Head of FP&A will take ownership of the FP&A agenda across the group, acting as a true business partner to senior leadership and the private equity sponsor. They will be responsible for building scalable processes, improving insight and forecasting accuracy, and embedding a data-led decision-making culture across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ultimately support the business in it’s imminent plans to exit to Private Equity (secondary), of a larger size.
- Designing and professionalising the group FP&A function, processes, and cadence – bringing the standards to larger Private Equity levels.
- Leading budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning and performance analysis across the group
- Delivering high-quality commercial insight through clean data, robust analysis, and clear storytelling
- Partnering closely with senior stakeholders to support and challenge commercial decision-making
- Supporting technology and finance systems upgrades, including planning tools and BI solutions (e.g. Power BI)
- Playing a key role in M&A activity, including pre-deal financial due diligence and post-deal integration
- Leading and developing an FP&A team (4), setting standards and leading by example
- Working in close collaboration with the Financial Controller to ensure alignment between reporting, controls, and insight
This is a hands-on role requiring a self-starter mindset: someone comfortable rolling up their sleeves while building out a function fit for scale and exit.
The Requirements:
The successful candidate will be a commercially minded finance leader with strong core FP&A capability and experience operating in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Proven Exit Experience – either supporting a CFO or Senior Finance leader/SLT.
- Proven FP&A experience, ideally within a private equity–backed, high-growth and/or international business
- Demonstrable leadership experience, including managing and developing a small team
- Strong financial modelling, forecasting, and analytical skills
- Experience using or implementing BI and planning tools (Power BI exposure highly desirable)
- Experience supporting M&A activity, including due diligence and integration
- A proactive, delivery-focused mindset with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to partner at senior leadership level
