Finatal are partnered with a leading technology business that works across the finance, health and education, and public services sectors. They have had private equity investment from a technology-focused fund and have been scaling through organic and inorganic growth. With a big focus on Data Governance, they are looking for a head of data to join and scale out the team further. You will work with the c-suite to enhance and implement the end-to-end data strategy, optimising infrastructure, reporting and decision analytics.

Role overview:

  • In this hands-on role, you will develop and maintain a modern data infrastructure, including Snowflake data lake, Informatica for MDM & DQ and Power BI.
  • Ensure infrastructure is scalable and data quality is maximised in line with DAMA’s framework
  • Partner with the CFO and Director of Commercial Finance to develop the data strategy and guide them on roadmap implementation.
  • You will have the opportunity to grow a small team across Data Engineering, Governance and Business Intelligence with budgets already assigned.
  • Transitioning the business from Excel-based reporting to modern BI platforms, primarily Power BI, with scope to explore AI-based tools. This will automate manual processes and enhance business decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior data leadership role within a private equity-backed organisation.
  • Extensive knowledge of data governance, quality, and master data management (MDM) frameworks, including DAMA principles (DAMA-DMBOK).
  • Hands-on technical ability across a modern data architecture, including Snowflake, Power BI and Informatica, or another ELT toolset (E.g., Talend, Fivetran).
  • Experience implementing a data strategy and data governance frameworks.
