A Private Equity-backed, globally operating Professional Services business is seeking a high-calibre Head of Finance to join its team at a pivotal stage in its growth journey. With annual revenues of approximately £50m and EBITDA of £15m, the business is well-capitalised and positioned for significant expansion, supported by an engaged and ambitious Private Equity sponsor.

The organisation is entering an exciting phase, with a clear strategic roadmap that includes both organic growth and an active M&A pipeline, culminating in a planned exit within the next 3–4 years. As part of this journey, the business is undergoing a professionalisation programme to elevate its financial infrastructure, processes, and performance to best-in-class Private Equity standards.

The Role:

Reporting directly to an established Finance Director & CFO, the Head of Finance will play a critical role in strengthening the finance function and supporting the wider strategic objectives of the business. The role will lead a team of four finance professionals and will be instrumental in enhancing financial controls, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.

This is a hands-on leadership position requiring a balance of technical excellence, team development, and commercial acumen. The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, contributing to key decision-making processes and supporting both FP&A and M&A activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of four within the finance function, driving performance and accountability
  • Oversee and enhance financial controls, ensuring robustness and compliance with Private Equity standards
  • Own the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Support the Finance Director & CFO with budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A activities
  • Play a key role in M&A processes, including due diligence and integration
  • Drive the professionalisation of financial systems, processes, and operations
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to provide commercial insight and support strategic decision-making

The Requirements:

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a finance leadership role, including managing and developing a small team
  • Strong technical grounding in financial controls, reporting, and operational finance
  • Demonstrated experience in improving and professionalising finance systems and processes
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Exposure to Private Equity-backed businesses and/or M&A activity is highly advantageous
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels

This is a unique opportunity to join a high-growth, Private Equity-backed business at a crucial stage in its lifecycle. The role offers significant exposure to strategic initiatives, including M&A and exit preparation, and provides a platform for a driven finance leader to make a tangible impact on the future success of the organisation.
