A well-established manufacturing business in South Wales, with a turnover of approximately £100m and an EBITDA of around £35m, is seeking a Head of FP&A. This high-growth and successful company has experienced 40% year-on-year growth and is backed by a prominent mid-market private equity firm. The company has recently appointed a new CFO to lead the transformation of the finance function, and this role will report directly to them.

The Head of FP&A position requires an individual with strong emotional intelligence and a collaborative approach. The successful candidate will be responsible for the continued professionalisation of the FP&A function from the ground up, with a focus on budgeting and forecasting. Ideally, the candidate will have experience within a manufacturing business, exposure to private equity, and hold a relevant accounting qualification. This role requires someone who is hands-on and experienced in businesses of a similar size.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the FP&A function, developing processes, systems, and reporting structures that align with Private Equity standards.
  • Conduct a thorough review of financial performance, cost structures, and key business drivers to enhance visibility and decision-making.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to support the company’s ambitious growth strategy and expansion into international markets.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling, ensuring robust financial planning across the business.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership, department heads, and operational teams to provide financial insight and commercial analysis.
  • Utilise data analytics to drive performance tracking, profitability analysis, and business case evaluations for new initiatives.

Requirements

  • ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in building or scaling an FP&A function, ideally within a Private Equity-backed business.
  • Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and commercial analysis, with the ability to drive data-led decision-making.
  • Experience working with large data sets and financial modelling tools – familiarity with data analytics platforms is advantageous.
