Role:
Finatal is working with a growing PE-backed construction business who need an interim FD to help with a refinancing process. This pivotal role comes at a crucial time as the business embarks on a refinancing process to optimise its capital structure and support its continued growth. As Finance Director, you will work closely with the CFO, private equity stakeholders, and senior leadership team to drive financial strategy, operational efficiency, and the successful execution of the refinancing initiative.
Responsibilities:
- Refinancing Strategy: Lead the development and execution of the company’s refinancing strategy, working closely with the CFO and private equity investors to secure favourable terms and optimize the capital structure.
- Manage relationships with lenders, banks, and external advisors, ensuring the successful negotiation of refinancing terms.
- Develop and implement financial models, forecasts, and analyses to evaluate refinancing options and their impact on the business’s growth trajectory and profitability.
- Financial Leadership: Provide strategic leadership to the finance team, ensuring robust financial planning, analysis, and reporting processes.
- Support the business through financial transformation and operational efficiency initiatives, ensuring alignment with long-term strategic objectives.
- Oversee cash flow management, working capital optimization, and risk management to ensure liquidity during and after refinancing.
- Private Equity Stakeholder Management: Serve as a key liaison with private equity investors, ensuring timely and transparent communication on financial performance, refinancing progress, and business risks.
- Present financial reports and strategic recommendations to the board and private equity partners, ensuring alignment with value creation goals.
- Operational Efficiency: Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function and operational departments, streamlining processes, improving financial controls, and optimizing performance.
- M&A and Growth Support: Support M&A activities and other growth initiatives by providing financial due diligence, capital allocation strategies, and integration support as needed.
Requirements:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with extensive post-qualification experience in senior financial leadership roles.
- Proven experience working within a private equity-backed environment, ideally within the construction or infrastructure sectors.
- Significant expertise in debt refinancing and capital restructuring, with a strong understanding of corporate finance and lender negotiations.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working closely with private equity investors and presenting to the board.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing finance teams in fast-paced, growth-oriented businesses.
- Highly analytical with advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage complex, high-impact financial initiatives such as refinancing and acquisitions.
