We are seeking an experienced Interim Finance Director to support a £50m turnover organisation based in the Bristol area. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic oversight and operational delivery during a critical period of transition and performance optimisation.

The successful candidate will bring strong financial leadership experience within either a multi-site environment or the education/schools sector, and be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic financial leadership to the Board and senior leadership team
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
  • Deliver robust cashflow management and working capital optimisation
  • Improve financial controls, governance, and reporting accuracy
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
  • Partner with operational leaders to drive performance and cost efficiency
  • Support and, where necessary, lead finance transformation initiatives
  • Manage and develop the existing finance team
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and audit requirements
  • Provide insight and analysis to support key commercial decisions

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience operating as a Finance Director or equivalent senior finance leader
  • Experience within multi-site organisations and/or the education/schools sector
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and commercial acumen
  • Demonstrable experience in interim or contract roles (highly desirable)
  • Track record of improving processes, controls, and financial visibility
  • Ability to quickly understand business drivers and implement change
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including Board-level interaction
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
