We are supporting a £300m turnover, private equity-backed managed service provider with the appointment of an interim Finance Manager to lead a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central implementation.

Operating in a fast-paced, acquisitive environment, the business is undergoing a finance transformation to enhance reporting, scalability, and control. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the successful delivery of the ERP implementation from a finance perspective.

The successful candidate will act as the finance lead on the project, working closely with the CFO, senior stakeholders, and the implementation partner to define requirements, oversee configuration, and ensure the system is fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the finance workstream for the Business Central implementation, acting as the primary finance point of contact
  • Translate finance and accounting requirements into system design, including chart of accounts, dimensions, and reporting structures
  • Oversee and validate system configuration relating to core finance processes (GL, AP, AR, revenue recognition, etc.)
  • Drive data migration activities, including validation of opening balances and transactional data
  • Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) from a finance perspective, ensuring outputs are accurate and aligned to business needs
  • Review and enhance finance processes alongside the implementation to improve efficiency and control
  • Work closely with the implementation partner to challenge design decisions and ensure best practice
  • Support integration design with other systems (e.g. billing, CRM, payroll)
  • Ensure strong financial controls and governance are embedded within the new system
  • Provide regular updates to the CFO and wider leadership team on progress, risks, and key decisions

Requirements

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified with strong core finance expertise
  • Proven experience leading or playing a key role in a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (or similar ERP) implementation
  • Strong understanding of finance processes, controls, and reporting in a mid-market environment
  • Experience within managed services, telecommunications, or PE-backed businesses is highly desirable
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to operate both strategically and at a detailed level
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence both finance and non-finance teams
  • Experience working alongside external implementation partners
  • Available immediately or at short notice
