Company Overview:
Finatal is working with a leading construction firm in the Northwest of England, backed by a prominent private equity group. They’re experiencing rapid growth and are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join them. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management within a private equity-backed environment, with specific experience in Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.
- Manage the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing critical financial insights to support decision-making.
- Implement and maintain strong financial controls and procedures to safeguard the company’s assets.
- Manage WIP accounting, ensuring accurate reporting of project costs and revenue recognition.
- Liaise with private equity stakeholders, providing regular updates and financial performance reports.
- Lead and develop a small finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute financial strategies that align with the company’s growth objectives.
Key Requirements:
- Qualifications: ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with significant post-qualification experience.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Financial Controller or similar role within a private equity-backed business.
- Industry Experience: Proven experience in the construction sector, with a deep understanding of WIP accounting and project finance.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading and developing finance teams.
- Stakeholder Management: Experience in managing relationships with private equity firms and other financial stakeholders.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of financial software and ERP systems, with the ability to implement new systems if required.
