About the Company: Finatal is partnering with a leading private equity-backed education business currently undergoing a significant transformation. As part of our strategy to professionalise the finance function, we are seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to lead this initiative and prepare the business for a successful exit.
Role Overview: As the Interim Financial Controller, you will be responsible for leading the professionalisation of the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, and enhancing financial reporting processes. Your work will be instrumental in preparing the business for a potential exit, and you will play a key role in driving financial strategy and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the transformation and professionalisation of the finance function, implementing best practices and robust financial controls.
- Oversee all financial reporting, including the preparation of monthly management accounts, statutory accounts, and board reports.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Drive improvements in financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and financing arrangements to optimize the company’s financial position.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insightful financial analysis to guide decision-making.
- Prepare the business for a successful exit, including due diligence, financial modelling, and liaising with potential buyers and investors.
- Collaborate with the senior management team and private equity stakeholders to align financial strategy with business objectives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller, ideally within a private equity-backed environment and with experience in business exits.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of professionalising finance functions.
- Excellent understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
- Experience with financial modelling and preparation for business exits is highly desirable.
