Finatal is working with an exciting private equity-backed multi-site FMCG company experiencing rapid growth and transformation. Our client is a dynamic portfolio business with a clear, strategic vision to scale and drive forward in its market. Known for innovation and resilience, this business is looking to bolster its financial operations by bringing in a Group Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function and support strategic decision-making.

Role Overview: As the Group Financial Controller, you will be a pivotal part of the finance team, working closely with senior stakeholders, including the CFO and private equity partners. This role will be hands-on, focused on establishing robust financial controls, streamlining processes, and ensuring compliance across the business. You’ll play a critical role in providing accurate financial reporting and insights that will directly influence business decisions and drive performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the finance function, ensuring efficient financial operations and control across all areas.
  • Prepare and review consolidated monthly management accounts and annual financial statements.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, providing clear insights for the leadership team.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, including IFRS.
  • Support M&A activity, including due diligence and integration of newly acquired businesses.

Qualifications and Experience

  • ACA or equivalent
  • Proven experience in a senior finance role within a private equity-backed or high-growth environment.
  • Extensive experience in a senior finance leadership role
  • Strong technical accounting skills, with knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP.
  • Excellent commercial awareness, with the ability to influence decision-making at a senior level and drive business performance.
  • Hands-on approach, with a keen eye for detail and a strategic mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing and developing a team, fostering a culture of high performance.
