The Opportunity

Finatal are partnered with a fantastic mid-market private equity investor who are looking to add an experienced investor to their world class team. They cover a broad range of sectors, and invest across Europe. They have a flexible investment mandate, but generally focus on executing buyout transactions. This is a great opportunity to join a lean but active team, with a clear progression pathway.

The Role

Deal execution

  • Lead and manage transaction workstreams across the investment lifecycle, including diligence, structuring, negotiation, and closing.
  • Prepare and review investment committee materials and financial models.
  • Oversee and execute lockbox adjustments and other closing mechanics.
  • Coordinate with advisors, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient deal processes.

Origination

  • You will have the opportunity to support Directors and the MD in building relationships with advisors, management teams and other relevant connections, though this will become more central to the role over time (1-2 years in).
  • Contribute to the evaluation of new investment opportunities and development of investment theses.

Portfolio management

  • Partner with portfolio company management teams on value creation initiatives.
  • Track portfolio performance and key operational and financial KPIs.
  • Identify and help implement operational improvements and strategic growth opportunities.

Leadership and team development

  • Manage, mentor, and upskill junior investment professionals.
  • Set high standards for analytical rigour, commercial insight, and process discipline.
  • Be willing to ‘roll up your sleeves’ and work alongside juniors on complex analyses and deliverables.

The Requirements

  • 2+ years of private equity investing experience. Demonstrable deal execution experience.
  • 4-7 years of total professional experience; the successful individual likely started their career in M&A advisory.
  • An exceptional academic track record.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; high EQ and a ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • An ambitious, adaptable mindset.
