Finatal is currently partnered with a growing professional services SME that is backed by a reputable private equity firm. The company is at a critical juncture, focused on scaling its operations and optimizing financial controls to support sustained growth. This role offers an opportunity to be part of a dynamic organization where financial rigor and strategic insight are essential. 

Role Overview: 

The Technical Financial Controller will be a key member of the finance team, responsible for overseeing the company’s financial reporting, ensuring robust financial controls, and providing technical accounting expertise. You will play a crucial role in aligning financial operations with the company’s strategic objectives, particularly in the context of a private equity-backed environment. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the preparation and consolidation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS/GAAP and meeting the reporting requirements of the private equity backers. 
  • Provide expert guidance on complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition, contract accounting, and deferred income, tailored to the professional services sector. 
  • Implement and maintain strong financial controls across the organization to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting. 
  • Oversee the budgeting and forecasting process, providing critical insights to support decision-making and long-term planning. 
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements, including managing audits and liaising with external auditors. 
  • Identify and drive procss improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the finance function. 

Qualifications: 

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent. 
  • Significant experience in a financial controller or similar role within a private equity-backed professional services SME. 
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and experience managing complex accounting issues in the professional services industry. 
  • Proven track record in implementing and maintaining robust financial controls in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in presenting financial information to senior management and private equity stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and implement best practices in financial management.
