Key Responsibilities:
· Partnership Development: Build strong relationships with partner universities, academics, and stakeholders within Northern England’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
· Deal Sourcing: Actively identify high-potential investment opportunities within life sciences.
· Network Building: Leverage networks to access a pipeline of innovative early-stage companies.
· Due Diligence & Analysis: Lead investment evaluations, including due diligence, financial modeling, and market research.
· Team Leadership: Oversee a deal team, including Investment Managers and third-party service providers.
· Investment Syndication: Coordinate a syndicate of investors during initial and follow-up investment phases.
· Board Representation: Serve as a board member or observer for portfolio companies, providing strategic governance and support.
· Portfolio Management: Guide companies through scaling, product development, and commercialization.
· Exit Strategy Development: Collaborate with portfolio leadership to maximize investor returns.
Qualifications:
· Educational Background: Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Medicine, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Engineering); advanced degrees (M.Sc., Ph.D., MBA) preferred.
· Industry Experience: 5+ years in venture capital or private equity with a strong focus on life sciences, plus a proven track record in early-stage investment and portfolio management.
· Sector Knowledge: Strong understanding of life sciences, industry trends, and commercialization pathways.
