As Team Lead Accounting, you will be responsible for managing and further developing the accounting function for the German market. You will ensure that all financial operations are compliant with regulatory requirements (GoB/GoBS), while fulfilling all internal and external reporting obligations. In addition, you will play a key role in implementing digital and automated processes, continuously enhancing structures and workflows to prepare the department for the future.

This position requires a balanced mix of strong leadership skills and a hands-on mentality. You won’t just lead the team—you’ll actively participate in the transformation and optimisation of accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Accounting team with a focus on digitalisation, efficiency improvements, and standardisation
  • Full responsibility for the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and HGB
  • Implement and oversee an effective risk and control framework (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley compliance)
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, shared service centres, and consultants
  • Develop and apply detailed rules and business processes to ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations
  • Analyse and optimise ERP processes (SAP S4/HANA), focusing on automation and digital transformation
  • Advise the Head of Finance on key accounting matters and contribute ideas for process improvement
  • Support planning activities (5+7, 9+15, LRP) for balance sheet and cash flow, and conduct variance analyses
  • Provide disciplinary and professional leadership to the team, fostering their development and growth
  • Independently lead and manage national and international projects in collaboration with European subsidiaries
  • Present concepts and results to relevant stakeholders and committees

Your Profile

  • Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a comparable qualification
  • Several years of professional experience in accounting, ideally within construction, real estate, energy, infrastructure, or telecommunications
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, HGB, and relevant tax regulations
  • Experience working with ERP systems, preferably SAP S4/HANA
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and lead a team toward goals
  • Hands-on approach combined with a strategic mindset for process optimisation and transformation
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across all organisational levels
  • Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken
