Finatal is partnering with a high-growth, investor-backed business seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join the leadership team during a pivotal stage of growth.
The business has established a strong market position and is entering a period of significant expansion, supported by an active acquisition strategy. With transactions anticipated over the coming years, the successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening financial controls, enhancing reporting capability and supporting the business through continued growth and future strategic events.
Reporting directly to the CFO, this role is ideally suited to a technically strong Financial Controller who enjoys building scalable processes, improving financial governance and operating within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, reporting key drivers to the CFO and PE sponsor.
- Deliver monthly management accounts and board/KPI packs to PE-standard reporting requirements, working toward a 5-day reporting cycle.
- Maintain strong financial controls, accounting procedures, and supporting reconciliations suited to a regulated financial services business.
- Lead the audit process, manage statutory accounts, and oversee advisor and auditor relationships.
- Own the finance reporting platform and its integration with operational systems.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and bank reporting.
- Maintain approval workflows and process documentation, scaling with growth.
- Drive efficiency across finance processes and systems, supporting exit/due-diligence readiness.
- Provide commercial insight and business partner with budget holders on performance and forecasts.
- Support board and investor reporting, including quarterly PE updates.
- Manage the wider finance function and support ad-hoc projects as required.
Candidate Requirements
- Recognised professional finance qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
- Experience within a PE-backed business, with leadership skills to develop the finance function as it scales.
- Strong technical accounting and management accounts expertise, with regulatory awareness.
- Good technical skills, ideally with Xero or similar financial platforms, and a track record improving finance systems and processes.
- Experience leading or contributing to finance transformation, automation, or systems initiatives.
- Exposure to a recurring revenue, people-led or similar financial services model.
- Commercial awareness and strong stakeholder management, able to influence senior leadership and investors.
- Comfortable driving change in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
- A growth mindset, self-motivated and proactive, with the ambition to help scale the business through its next phase.
