Finatal is retained by a high-growth, Private Equity-backed professional services platform headquartered in Luxembourg. The business provides a range of corporate, fiduciary and fund-related services to a diversified international client base and has built a strong reputation within its sector.
The company currently generates c.€40m revenue, delivers industry-leading profitability, and has ambitious plans to scale significantly through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions. Having already completed multiple acquisitions and expanded internationally, the business is now entering the next phase of its value-creation journey ahead of a targeted exit in 2029.
As the company continues its rapid growth trajectory, it is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Group CFO to partner with the CEO, professionalise the finance function, and play a leading role in delivering the value-creation plan.
The Role
As Group CFO, you will be the CEO’s closest financial partner, responsible for leading finance, reporting, planning, controls, systems, and business performance across a growing international organisation.
This is a highly visible role, requiring a balance of strategic thinking and operational execution. The successful candidate will lead finance transformation, improve transparency across the business, enhance commercial decision-making, and help build a scalable platform capable of supporting significant future growth.
The role will involve regular interaction with shareholders, board members, senior management teams and acquired businesses, whilst also leading key workstreams around integration, systems development, operational finance and exit readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnering
- Act as the CEO’s primary financial adviser and strategic partner, providing clear insight on performance, growth initiatives and value creation.
- Serve as a trusted counterpart to shareholders and the Board, delivering high-quality reporting, forecasting and performance analysis.
- Translate the growth strategy into actionable financial plans focused on profitability, scalability and long-term value creation.
- Support strategic decision-making through commercial analysis, scenario modelling and performance improvement initiatives.
- Partner closely with functional leaders to ensure financial discipline and accountability across the organisation.
Finance Transformation & Value Creation
- Lead the transformation of the finance function into a scalable, forward-looking and commercially focused operation.
- Professionalise reporting, forecasting, controls, budgeting and planning processes across the Group.
- Improve data quality, financial visibility and management information to support decision making.
- Develop robust KPI frameworks focused on profitability, cash generation, utilisation and operational performance.
- Create a finance platform capable of supporting continued international expansion and future acquisitions.
- Drive the organisation’s overall value-creation agenda in partnership with senior management and shareholders.
Operational Finance & Cash Performance
- Drive significant improvements in invoicing performance, billing efficiency and cash conversion.
- Establish greater visibility and control over work-in-progress, client profitability and utilisation metrics.
- Improve working capital management and cash forecasting disciplines.
- Enhance visibility of profitability by client, service line, geography and legal entity.
- Ensure strong accounting, controlling and financial governance processes across the Group.
- Address historical finance process challenges and build best-in-class financial operations.
Systems, Integration & Scalability
- Lead the recovery, optimisation and stabilisation of key finance systems and ERP infrastructure.
- Support integration activities across recently acquired businesses.
- Establish repeatable acquisition integration frameworks for future transactions.
- Improve reporting consistency, process standardisation and data integrity across multiple jurisdictions.
- Build a scalable operating model capable of supporting substantial international growth.
Performance Driven Leadership
- Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, creating a high-performance culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
- Strengthen the capabilities of the wider finance organisation while building succession and leadership depth.
- Foster collaboration across finance, operations and commercial teams.
- Create a proactive finance function that identifies solutions and drives business outcomes rather than simply reporting issues.
- Promote a culture of commercial insight, ownership and execution excellence.
Key Requirements
- Private Equity Experience: Demonstrated experience operating within a PE-backed business and working directly with investors against a defined value-creation plan.
- Strategic CFO Capability: Proven track record as a commercially minded CFO capable of partnering effectively with CEOs, Boards and shareholders.
- Hands-On Leadership: Willingness to remain operationally involved whilst simultaneously leading strategic initiatives.
- Finance Transformation Experience: Experience professionalising finance functions, improving controls, reporting, systems and processes.
- Cash & Billing Expertise: Strong background improving invoicing, working capital management, cash conversion and profitability visibility.
- Commercial Acumen: Ability to utilise financial data to influence operational and commercial decision making.
- M&A Exposure: Experience supporting acquisitions, integration and exit preparation is highly desirable.
- Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication and influencing skills with the confidence to challenge senior leadership when required.
- Sector Experience: Experience within fund services, corporate services, professional services, financial services, insurance, InsurTech, or another people-led services environment is preferred.
- Location: Must be willing to work on-site in Luxembourg.
