Job Summary
The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis and Business Analytics will serve as a dual mandate strategic and operational finance and business analytics leader, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This role will own the company’s financial planning, forecasting, management reporting, and business analytics functions, while simultaneously building and leading a best in class data analytics capability that connects the company’s newly integrated systems into actionable intelligence.
A core priority for this individual will be restoring and establishing data credibility following the company’s recent system integration, including owning the development of the company’s business data and analytics, working with IT in building out the data lake and lakehouse architecture, and coordinating with the sponsor’s cloud data environment. The Director will ensure that enterprise data flows are connected, accurate, and accessible, enabling the CFO, CEO, and executive leadership team to make high confidence decisions on growth, profitability, and pipeline performance.
This individual will also play a critical role in preparing the organization for the next phase of private equity ownership and a potential recapitalization event.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead company wide financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and business analytics across all business units
- Build and lead a high performing Business Analytics function, including team hiring, tool development, and data governance, standing up the group from its current state into a true analytics center of excellence
- Work closely with IT on the development and integration of the company’s data lake and lakehouse architecture, ensuring connectivity between internal systems and the sponsor’s cloud data environment
- Restore data credibility following the company’s system integration, establishing reliable data pipelines and a single source of truth for operational and financial reporting
- Ensure timely, accurate, and relevant data is available to measure individual and team performance against established targets
- Partner with the CFO to drive insight into business performance, including sales force effectiveness, pipeline profitability, headcount growth trends, and margin opportunities across business units and geographies
- Oversee management reporting and board level materials, including KPIs, variance analysis, cash flow projections, and operational metrics
- Serve as a strategic analytics partner to key executive stakeholders including the Chief People Officer, Chief Growth Officer, CEO, and Senior Director of Corporate Development
- Collaborate closely with project controls, billing, and operations teams to link project level performance to company level results
- Develop and enhance forecasting models and financial dashboards for real time visibility, leveraging BI tools and AI driven automation
- Support integration efforts related to recent acquisitions and the rollout of the company’s ERP platform
- Partner with the Controller and Corporate Accounting on monthly close, consolidation, and reporting processes
- Assist with capital planning, scenario analysis, and strategic projects as the company prepares for its recapitalization
- Foster a data driven, collaborative finance and analytics culture across corporate and field operations
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including leadership of FP&A, business analytics, or finance business partnering teams
- Background in architecture, engineering, construction, or other project based professional services required (AEC experience strongly preferred); management consulting background or mindset a strong differentiator
- Demonstrated experience standing up or transforming a business analytics or data function, including data lake or lakehouse environments
- Prior experience in private equity backed or fast paced growth environments highly desirable
- Strong operational finance and strategic business partnership skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for executive and operational stakeholders
- Big 4 or large professional services foundation preferred
- Proven ability to build and lead teams, implement systems, and establish scalable FP&A and analytics processes
- Exceptional communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel up to 25% to company locations in the Mid Atlantic and Midwest
Systems & Tools
- Strong understanding of data lakes and lakehouse architectures, including hands on experience mining and structuring large datasets to produce actionable business intelligence
- Proficiency with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or equivalent
- Advanced Excel, Power BI, and dashboard/reporting tool proficiency
- Experience with major HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday) highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to leverage AI and automation tools to enhance data accuracy, streamline reporting processes, and build more efficient analytics platforms
- Preferred experience with AEC specific ERP and budgeting tools
