About the job

Finatal is partnering with a leading middle-market private equity sponsor to appoint a Chief Financial Officer for a complex, global industrial platform headquartered in the Mid-Atlantic region.

The business is a market-leading provider of industrial products and services, generating approximately $75 million of EBITDA today with a clear path to growth. One year into the investment period, the company is entering a pivotal phase of its value creation journey, with substantial opportunities across both organic initiatives and strategic M&A.

Working closely with the CEO, Board, and private equity sponsor, the CFO will help shape and execute the company’s next chapter of growth. This is an opportunity for a hands-on, transformational finance executive to modernize processes and systems, elevate the capabilities of an established finance organization, and build the infrastructure required to support a significantly larger and more complex enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CEO, Board, and sponsor to drive the value creation plan, capital allocation decisions, and long-term strategic growth agenda.
  • Lead all finance and accounting functions across a complex, multi-site global organization.
  • Develop and execute a finance transformation roadmap focused on process improvement, systems enhancement, reporting sophistication, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Mentor, develop, and upskill the existing finance team, building a high-performance culture and leadership bench capable of supporting future growth.
  • Establish best-in-class financial planning, forecasting, and performance management processes that enhance visibility and decision-making across the business.
  • Improve operational and financial reporting capabilities, delivering actionable insights to leadership, investors, and the Board.
  • Evaluate, execute, and integrate strategic acquisitions, partnering closely with the sponsor and executive team on all aspects of the M&A lifecycle.
  • Drive post-acquisition integration efforts and ensure acquired businesses are effectively incorporated into the company’s operating and financial framework.
  • Strengthen internal controls, compliance, and governance processes while maintaining an appropriate balance between rigor and operational agility.
  • Lead banking and lender relationships, debt compliance, liquidity management, and capital structure optimization.
  • Partner with operational leaders across the business to improve profitability, working capital performance, pricing discipline, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a key strategic advisor to the CEO and Board on enterprise-wide decisions affecting growth, investment, and organizational development.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience.
  • Current CFO or highly credible CFO successor with experience operating in complex, multi-entity organizations.
  • Prior experience within private equity-backed businesses, ideally supporting a value creation plan centered on both organic growth and acquisitions.
  • Proven track record leading finance transformation initiatives, including process redesign, systems implementation, reporting enhancement, and organizational development.
  • Experience building, developing, and elevating finance teams in rapidly evolving environments.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with CEOs, Boards, lenders, and private equity investors.
  • Meaningful M&A experience, including transaction execution, integration planning, and post-close value creation.
  • Strong understanding of industrial, manufacturing, engineered products, distribution, business services, or similarly complex operating environments.
  • Experience operating within a leveraged capital structure and managing lender relationships.
  • Strategic mindset combined with a highly hands-on approach and willingness to engage in execution when required.
  • Willingness to work onsite at the company’s Mid-Atlantic headquarters a minimum of three days per week.
