Finatal completed the ReUp Education CFO search in 79 days, appointing a finance leader with experience building teams, integrating acquisitions and supporting a private equity exit for the Avathon Capital-backed business.
The challenge: finance leadership for ReUp’s next phase
ReUp Education, a technology-enabled platform helping adult learners return to education, had grown more than fivefold since Avathon Capital’s 2021 investment. As the business prepared for its next stage, it needed a CFO who could strengthen the finance function and support future exit preparations.
The brief combined strategic leadership with substantial hands-on responsibility. The new CFO would need to rebuild FP&A, develop the team and manage lender relationships while partnering credibly with the CEO and investor. Experience in a private equity-backed education or consumer services business was important, and the search needed to remain confidential.
A focused CFO executive search
Finatal’s CFO Executive Search practice mapped finance leaders across technology-enabled education and consumer engagement businesses, including membership, healthcare and fintech models with comparable customer acquisition and retention economics.
We assessed candidates for practical FP&A expertise, experience building finance teams and the ability to work effectively with management, investors and lenders. Outreach was handled discreetly, with the client’s identity shared only after candidates had been qualified. Across the process, 24 candidates were presented and interviewed.
The result: a CFO appointed in 79 days
The search was completed in 79 days, and the appointed CFO joined in July 2026. She brought experience as a CFO across multiple private equity portfolio companies, including building finance functions from the ground up, integrating acquisitions and supporting a successful exit.
Based in Austin alongside the CEO, she brought both the strategic perspective and operational experience required for ReUp’s next phase.
