The challenge
Springs Window Fashions needed to strengthen its technical accounting capability as it prepared for its next stage of growth and a potential future exit.
The window coverings business required an Assistant Corporate Controller with strong technical expertise, confidence with systems and a record of improving accounting processes. Experience in an organization of comparable scale was important, alongside the ability to spend every other week on site in Madison.
The search
Finatal targeted candidates from large, relevant businesses, focusing on technical accounting depth, systems expertise and willingness to travel or relocate.
As the search developed, we advised the client on the compensation required to attract the level of experience the brief demanded. We introduced a candidate whose background closely matched the business’s needs, despite sitting outside the original compensation parameters. The client progressed the candidate and adjusted its approach to secure the appointment.
The result
The successful candidate joined in January 2026, bringing experience from private equity-backed businesses of similar scale.
The appointment added the technical accounting strength the business needed and complemented the existing finance team. It gave Springs Window Fashions additional capability to improve processes and develop its accounting function in support of growth and future exit preparation.
