TMF Group is a private equity-backed global professional services firm headquartered in Amsterdam that provides accounting, tax, HR, payroll and corporate secretarial services across 86 countries.
Challenge
TMF Group’s new Chief Transformation Officer joined in Q4 2024 with a clear mandate to build and execute the value creation plan.
Finatal entered the relationship cold. TMF had a long-standing partnership with another search firm, and the incumbent was strong in strategy talent. The gap was execution.
TMF needed operators who could deliver the value creation plan across Accounting & Tax, Finance, HR, Tax, Global Entity Management and Commercial Transformation, spanning three regions: the UK, Spain and Malaysia.
Action
The engagement was led by Vinai Kongara, who joined Finatal after a decade spent building transformation teams across Banking, FinTechs, Professional Services and PE-backed businesses.
The approach was simple: combine Vinai’s network with Finatal’s private equity expertise and proactively headhunt for every role.
Vinai worked closely with the Chief Transformation Officer, the Head of Transformation and the Global Operations & Technology Leadership Team to understand the strategic needs of the business, the culture and skill set needed to deliver value to the organisation.
Every search began with in-depth research into the role, team culture and the type of operator most likely to succeed. That rigour kept shortlists short and conversion high.
The placements spanned interim and permanent roles across five disciplines:
Impact
Ten placements across five disciplines and three regions, covering both interim and permanent hires.
The work helped bridge the gap between TMF’s transformation strategy and execution capability by embedding experienced operators within each workstream.
Finatal quickly became a trusted execution partner for both the Transformation Office and the Technology Office, while building strong relationships with senior leaders across the wider business.
