The challenge
Tronair, an aerospace manufacturing business, was preparing for international expansion through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions. Its new CEO needed a CFO who could provide the financial insight and commercial perspective to help evaluate investment opportunities and guide strategic decisions.
The brief required a leader with substantial M&A experience, a record of scaling private equity-backed businesses and the ability to work closely with the CEO and management team. An office-based presence was important, which narrowed the available candidate pool.
The search
Finatal mapped finance leaders from private equity-backed businesses with proven acquisition and exit experience. The target profile included candidates who had supported at least five acquisitions within an investment hold period and helped take a business through a successful exit.
We prioritized strategic CFO capability, hands-on integration experience and willingness to work on site. Through direct approaches to a carefully selected group, we presented Tronair’s growth plans and acquisition strategy to engage candidates with the experience and interest required.
The result
Tronair appointed a CFO with a track record spanning more than 20 M&A integrations. She had helped scale private equity-backed manufacturing businesses and brought experience combining strategic financial leadership with practical integration work.
The appointment added a finance partner equipped to support the CEO’s international growth ambitions, assess acquisition opportunities and strengthen the financial foundations for the next stage of development.
